Across the Sacred Valley, the field kept shifting scale: a railway market, a regulated mountain route, hands working fiber, and stone that reorganized the body before it yielded an explanation.
The Peru fieldwork moved VNE beyond interpersonal communication alone. At Ollantaytambo, exchange unfolded under unequal time pressure as a train approached; at Machu Picchu, movement was structured by queues, timed entry, routes, terraces, stairs, guides, and viewpoints.
Chinchero brought the inquiry into material practice—spinning, dyeing, weaving, touch, demonstration, animals, and repetition. Sacsayhuamán and Qenqo shifted it again toward architectural scale, pressure, enclosure, texture, and movement.
